This is for anyone who wants to create and maintain sharp edges on kitchen and hunting knives with minimal costs on equipment.
In this workshop, you will learn how to sharpen and maintain knives. You will be able to sharpen 4 or 5 of your personal knives.
In addition, you will learn:
• How abrasives and grit size affect sharpness
• How the blade shape and angle affect sharpness and edge life
• Why you need to create and remove burr’s
• How to test your knives
Sharpening tools that you will use are:
• Bench Stones
• Various holding jigs
• EdgePro sharpening system
1 Day in Person Workshop 6-8 hours of instruction Cost $360
This is for anyone who is thinking of starting a business and wants to get a “feel” for what is involved.
This workshop covers everything the 1/2-day training covers, plus you will learn how to use a variety of motorized sharpeners. A manual is included that details all that is taught in the ½, 1, and 2-day workshops. You will have the opportunity to try a variety of tools but hands on time is limited.
You will learn:
• How to sharpen all types of knives including serrated knives
• How to use leather strops and buffing wheels to polish and remove burr’s
• Why overheating a knife during grinding can damage the steel
• How to repair broken knife tips and fix bolsters
• How to sharpen woodworking chisels and plane blades
Sharpening tools that will be used are:

2 Day in Person Workshop 14 hours of instruction Cost $ 700
This is for anyone who is seriously interested in starting a sharpening business. This workshop covers everything the 1-day workshop covers plus sharpening scissors and some common garden tools. You will get lots of hand on time to learn and practice.
Specifically, you will learn:
• How to sharpen beveled and convex edge scissors
• How to sharpen garden pruners
• How to sharpen hedge clippers
• How to sharpen rotary lawn mower blades
